Bustin At The Seams

I've seen these lines of X6's get longer every time I go by this gate. The lines are now almost out to the main road. This is the delivery gate for all the "just in time" parts deliveries that BMW uses. It's also the gate where all the car haulers exit w/ new Bimmers on their way to dealerships. My only guess is that some of the paved storage areas previously used by BMW for car storage,is now under construction w/ the plant expansion. There is a couple more storage area's that have popped up in the last couple months ( knock some tree's down, grade a little bit,put gravel down, put up barbed wire fence). The next time you drive by, the lot is full of cars.My only concern as a future X6 owner is these cars are out in the elements 24/7 until they are shipped.I worry about hail storms this time of year. They are actually calling for bad storms today.I guess it's something all SE based car manufactures must worry about. I know Nissan in Mississippi came up w/ some sort of anti-hail system for their plant.I'm not losing my mind!!! It involved some sort of sonic wave guns that shoot up into the atmosphere after a radar system detects the right conditions for hail formation. The sonic waves somehow break up the hail!!!???? Maybe it's not that big of a deal.Thanks. PalBay

Cool pics, as usual, PB!
Indeed busting the seams...

I agree on the odd situ of cars sitting out there for days/weeks(?),
then they go to the extreme of shipping them via BMT, et al, in
those covered car carriers. But, that new paint is just sitting, initially,
for quite some time.

Maybe they think the 8 buck/hr "delivery prep" wash kid can
get the cosmetics back on the road, so to speak.

You are the LongLensKing, here!

Thankfully mine isn't built yet, just a few more weeks to go and then it should be shipped immediately.

p.s. looks like they're pretty much all 35i models, so probably staying stateside.

I've seen those hail cannons in action in the apple orchards of South America. I'll look for the video and post it. Pretty cool system really.

The premise is to fill an iron chimney with propane and then ignite it. Think artillery simulator and it sounds just like a howitzer firing. In person, I could see the shockwave exit the cannon and disperse into the air. It supposedly shatters the hail stones into harmless pieces.

Could these be the dealer demo's?

Strange that they are predominantly only two colors...

Fingers crossed but I will hopefully be running the worlds first long-term magazine test on the X6. We will be going to print literally 'days' after I take delivery, so I will need to pack some mileage in quickly on order to have something to say.
