				Active Steering

For those planning to buy an X6, are you considering the active steering option?

But then considering its size, I guess it will become very helpfull. Many reviewers didn't like it, but then how many kilometers have they driven with it... I guess it takes a little time to get used to.. Hope this helps.. |

Thanks for the input. Are you a long time BMW owner? I haven't really tried it since it came out on the 2004 545i-didn't like it then. I've been buying BMW's 3 series since 1992 except for the 2002 7 (didn't care for it) and the 545 which didn't fit me. I usually buy a larger car for business, brand varies, to go with the 3 for fun. So I was curious if AS had improved since 2004. You are right the reviews are either negative or mixed at best. So I thought I would seek counsel from those die hard acolytes who have experience. Is it the old time BMW 3 series guy like me buying AS or the new convert to BMW's? Are the reviewers who have history with BMW's merely reacting to the change of an old favorite? I am searching for opinions from both perspectives to make sure I don't end up with buyer's remorse. |

Wouldn't take it on a 3 or 5 series though. Equally concerned and worried about ending up with buyer's remorse, I questionned a lot of people. The consensus seems to be the following (whether right or wrong) : Those who have test driven it don't like it.. Those who have it on a 3 or 5 series don't like it.. Those who actually have it on an X5 seem to like it.. Why ? don't know, probably the way the car is driven or its size or the wheel size.. I have taken the risk and may comment on it once I get mine in about 2 months, but then maybe my first comments won't be that positive since I may need time to get used to it... |

I am a longt time BMW owner. On X5 models I tested with and without. Now I am very happy, having it on the X5 and also ordered my X6 with it. The X5 feels very sportive with it - there is nothing like loosing contact or not feeling the road. Try and it and feel it - you won´t need a long time for this experience.
