Arrow Another X6 xDrive 35i test drive review....

I was getting some parts from Crevier BMW when they had a red X6 sitting out there for a test drive.

Anyhow, just as others have mentioned, the X6 really does handle well with very little body roll. The X6 does sit lower than the X5 and actually feels smaller than the E70 X5....probably due to the sloping roofline.

The X6 is still heavy vehicle, but performed very well as a BMW should.

It was loaded with premium, sports, technology package and I love those comfort seats.

Yes, the X6 with the twin-turbo inline-6 was decently fast, but I think the twin-turbo V8 will make the X6 more of a hoot. Maybe I'm just used to the M3 acceleration....Maybe the twin-turbo inline-6 will go faster once it breaks in...but it still felt a little strained and I'm not sure if I really liked the sound of the engine in the X6....it sounds different from the 335i....

The X6 definitely feels very solid and the ride is fine. I did try the car in both normal and sports mode and shifting manually (not sure if I like the shifter....feels a little plasticky...the M5 SMG shifter feels more solid)

The rear view is hampered due to the severe sloping of the rear hatch. The rear cargo room is decent and appears to hold more than a E53 X5 if you use the cargo cover.

Anyhow, enjoy the pics and see the side-by-side pics of the E70 X5 and X6!

Thanks...

I was very impressed with the ride and handling, and very little body roll (like you mentioned). The back seat was a little tougher to get into. But maybe I'm not used to it. It's a small niche vehicle, but if you want a coupe that you can sit up high in. This is your vehicle.

I was wondering if the 5.0/V8 will handle as well with the added weight up front.

Thanks again..

Nice write-up. What kind of wood trim was the vehicle equipped with? I'm desperately trying to see a X5/X6 in person that has black interior with aluminum wood trim.

Before Josh jumps all over you for saying that, the M5 was lemoned over a year ago.

Woah, I have been gone awhile. Tough to keep up with Josh's car churning activities. Now that that Red M5 is gone I can tell him that color and car did not go well together.

Sorry for the OT, please don't ban me!!!
