Hi Simon, I am happy with the colour. VR looks striking, in a mature and sophisticated manner most of the time. Sometimes it can look at little browny-red (only slightly), and like Interlagos Blue it turns a deep colour (deep wine red) in the evening. Everyone that's seen it describes it as stunning. My brother also bought an X6, this time in Deep Sea Blue, and the VR colour looks more rich and special. I have parked mine next to Saphire Black and Space Grey, and thus far VR looks like the best colour on the X6. I'd like to see one in white because that looks stunning in the pictures I've seen.
For the rest of the X6 experience, I much prefer it to the X5. It does everything I thought it would in terms of utility, whilst feeling like a coupe rather than an estate car. Don't ask my how, but it really does have that 'coupe' feel which for instance makes a 3-series coupe feel more special than a 3-series saloon.
Engine, is about pros and cons. It's more effortless than my ML63 was, rarely do I have to kick-down in the auto box and it accelerates up the road on part throttle as quickly as the ML, and quicker that a 4.8i X5 unless you'd revved the petrol engines hard. It even sounds V8-like under load, but 'initially' when pulling off from a junction you still have to live with that diesel noise. The diesel engine is better than I thought it would be and from the various X6's I have driven it seems to quieten the more miles are covered.
Overall I am happy with my decision, the 35d engine is more relaxing to drive than a V8, handling makes driving effortless and the looks of the X6 never fail to please.
