Does BMW present an outmoded X5 and X6 on NAIAS

BMW Fans around the world discuss the availability of the new idrive in the X5 and X6 premium SUV since months. This feature and a lot of necessary changes are not implemented yet...

1. X5 and X6 are the last series with stone old idrive system (all other series, beginning from 1 to 7 have the new system already installed months ago.

2. X5 and X6 Diesel do not reach the European Emission Standards EU5/6. For example, the new 3 series comes with the new 3 litre diesel (245 hp) and is compliant with EU5/6 also all other series have engines wo met this requirments to be compliant.

3. Automatic Transmission. The X5 and X6 use an 6 speed transmission. Is that state of the art for premium SUVīs? What about 7 or 8 speed transmission?

Will BMW present any changes for the X5 and X6 on NAIAS? It is impossible to believe that they can work against bad sales without doing something on their status symbols.

How do others think about that?

Z4 will have its thunder at NAIAS.

X5, X6 are getting new iDrive in spring.

Don't think anything for X5 & X6 at NAIAS.

Ok, Z4 is a brand new car. It should have its attention on NAIAS, the main attention a new models deserves... but what about X5 and X6...

Do you still believe X5 and X6 are getting new iDrive?

To reach latest European emissions values the engines must be updated. The latest BMW press release does not show the X5 and X6 Diesel as "low emission" of "emission optimized" cars. Engines donīt change as it seems.

I agree with you...

I Agree that an extra gear would be a good Idea.
Highway travel would benefit....
