Trailer Hitch for the USA Market

Has anyone installed or had a BMW hitch installed on the X6 in the USA?

NON USA hitches even though they are look a lot better than hitches approved for use here can't be used here.
Ran into the same problem with my X5.

Right now the only thing standing in the way of buying a X6 instead of another X5 is
availability of an approved hitch for the X6.

If installation instructions are available, that would be nice to.
(My dealer doubles the install hours suggested by BMW and charges accordingly.)

Thanks

There are two approved hitches for the X6 in the accesories catalog. One that is hitch mounted and the other that mounts in special hooks on back and does not require hitch.

There is another non OEM product and to my knowledge which surpasses the OEM requirements given the ECE, SABA and DOT testing mandates. I have one on my x5 not sure if they have one for the x6. the one real nice feature is that it is hidden from view when not in use. Check out phantomhitchesdotcom. They may have an answer.

cheers

Sorry I call B.S. on this. The OEM hitch for the X5 is the best product out there, best fit and most rigid design. All other hitches wont hold as good as the OEM one...

Phantomhitches uses a pyramid marketing scheme by which registered owners get paid for referrals.

That is apart from the issue of it costing more than the OEM hitch, and not being designed to the same standard. It is hidden, though.

There is an OEM hitch from BMW for the X6. In Canada the part numbers are:

71-60-0-443-104 Trailer Hitch Kit $899.00
71-60-0-443-105 Bumper Fascia Trim $ 50.51
71-60-0-413-358 Ball Mount Kit $ 68.67

Total $1,140.91 $CAD

Of course, labor will be on top of that. The dealer didn't have a picture, but I'm assuming the hitch is a receiver type.
