i-drive

Is the i-drive in the 2011 X6 the same system as that in the new 7?

I think the 7ers have a 10" screen whereas the X5/X6 continue with the 8.8" display. The major change should happen at production week 40 of 2010 when the updated CIC hardware begins to appear. My E71 order shows the new 6VC option code (plus 8TL & 8TN). Be nice if they put a bigger hard drive in too. Is it still 40GB?

Confirmation of new hardware

I've just had confirmation that on my UK spec XDrive 40D, option 6VC, 8TL and 8TN have been included - not that anyone knows what 8TN actually is of course. Even BMW GB didn't know! 6VC is the next generation of Connected Drive.

Car was built in Week 40 and has just been released to Distribution for shipping across the pond.
