* * * * * * * * 04-06-19 UPDATE: Price lowered to $10K * * * * * * * * * * Welcome. It is that time. I have done my best to maintain and care for this beauty as much and as often as I could in the time I have owned it. I purchased it back in 2012 with the idea that I was going to keep it forever and eventually ride off with it into the sunset. I have learned as a result to never say never. Ever. I'm selling (reluctantly) because we just discovered that the wife is pregnant. She has expressed that she would like a more current vehicle with a more up to date technology, safety features, reliability (which is fair) and would like a spot in the garage also. I currently have this garaged as well as my 02 E39 and I have been commanded to keep the E39 given the recent work, amount of time, and finances I have put into it recently that she is well aware of. So hence the non-starter. On to the details: Imola Red 4.8IS with 86,600 miles Purchased from an independent dealer in San Diego in 2012 with 72,740 miles. Which in the 7 years I've owned it, I've only driven it about 167 miles a month. * Asking $11,000.00 * No mechanical modifications whatsoever, fully stock OEM * Garage Kept * Non-smoker * Pets were not allowed in this vehicle * Hood finish is flawless, zero rock chips, free of blemishes, scratches or dings * Windshield is exceptionally crystal clear, no pitting, scratches or blurred spots * Xpel headlight armor clear protective film on headlights and fog lights * All incandescent yellow interior light bulbs have been replaced with the Ziza master LED kit (no errors) * Back up reverse lights have been replaced with ultra bright LED upgrades (no errors) * Entire interior has been steam cleaned * Recently replaced headliner to suede * Black leather interior * Euro spec asperic side view mirrors * Enhanced OEM steering wheel * DVD USB headrest screens * Entire adjustable suspension so far has received $5,000.00 worth of replacement parts and updates (records available) * All adjustable suspension airbags replaced, pressure accumulator tanks, etc. * Will include in the sale stock headrests, regular steering wheel, and non-asperic side view mirrors * Convenience features work! Panoramic roof, folding mirrors, heated seats, window sun shades, very cold AC * Will include Carfax records provided by previous seller (dealer) Current and Only Issue: * The dreaded Self Leveling Suspension Inactive dash code. 90% of the Self Leveling Suspension has already received updates, new parts, and overhauled by both the BMW dealership and my trusted mechanic. I have the records itemizing these things. Both sources agree that the only item left to replace that will fix the issue is the Suspension Control Unit. Unfortunately the wife has put her foot down as far as spending anything beyond what was already invested. The vehicle however does not drop in ride height, it does not lose air, it just won't adjust in height (i.e. go up or down) as a result of the code. Vehicle History * The X5 has a lemon history behind it. This was disclosed to me by the seller (dealer) and it is also indicated in the title. From what I was told at the time of my purchase, BMW North America purchased the X5 back from its owner at the time during the lemon period and fixed every single issue, code, and symptoms the vehicle had. Completely overhauled the vehicle top to bottom, inside and out until it was clear of any problems. BMW NA then released it and put it back into circulation. It was then that the independent dealer I purchased it from obtained it. I was fully aware of the vehicle's history when I purchased it. Seeing, test driving, and experiencing the vehicle for myself without any of these disclosed issues whatsoever made it OK for me to go ahead with the purchase. This detail may be something that breaks the deal for some and for others it may not be as long as the issues were resolved. I obviously belong to the latter. Since I've owned it, it has not given me any issues aside from the Self Leveling Suspension code which is only fairly recent. I am not aware of any other issues or problems outside of this one. And when a problem arises, I'm the kind who goes after it right away. Case in point is the money I've thrown at the most current suspension issue so far. This is a weekend vehicle that was leisurely driven and was not abused whatsoever. Gets thumbs up and nods of approval from strangers and admirers alike whenever it's out and about. It regularly receives hand washing and detailing both inside, outside, and in the engine bay despite only seeing occasional use. I am aware of its rarity as a 4.8IS model as well as the Imola Red it comes in hence the well taken cared of condition as you can see from the photos. It would be great to sell this to someone who is familiar with the significance of this model and the condition that it is in and take on the responsibility of preserving and improving it the way I have over the course of owning it. Of course, enjoying it immensely in the process. Let me know if you guys have any other questions. Thanks! MANGO |

Thanks! I think I was in the middle of adding the interior photos while you were replying to it. They should be up.
Even now, when I look at it, I'm still having second thoughts. |
Wow! I know how incredibly rare this is and didnt think I'd see one for sale.
Under different circumstances, I'd buy in a heart beat. Theres an outside chance I could still do it, but may take some time. I wont wish you luck because I dont think you'll need it. Such an awesome SUV. Itll sell fast. Cheers! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk |

Drooling over Imola... You have done well Mango. Hope it finds a great home

VERY... very nice truck. I want it badly but the we want something non-N62 powered for our third vehicle. I'm going to work on the wife, but she (and I) were looking for e39 or e60 wagons for the third vehicle. But that condition makes mine look tired... and mine is in pretty good condition. IMHO.
GLWS. Won't be around long. |
If I could find a buyer for my X... This weekend.... I would see you next weekend. This will sell fast.

The wife and I will be in Vegas next month.... If this hasn't sold, it's gonna be tough not to come check it out.

Few questions what is an enhanced OEM steering wheel? Because even though that's a factory steering wheel it didn't come like that from the factory so did somebody else do that like Coby Wheel or another steering wheel company?
Also all of the interior trim that's "carbon fiber" ... Is it vinyl-wrapped? because that's not factory is it? I've never seen trim like that except in e46 zhp model cars which had black cube Tim but still not actual carbon fiber. For the screen in your headrest you say DVD USB units where is the DVD player at? It's a very clean car very low miles unfortunate about the lemon issues which I assume show on the Carfax? |
Thank you everyone for the compliments and kind notes via private messages.
I guess I just like taking care of my stuff (like most of us on here) and my cars end up being lifers since I end up keeping them for a very long time. I guess life has a way of making you adjust to the unexpected. I am so bummed it's going. But I am so glad I took care of it the way I did. I'm very proud of the effort I've placed into maintaining it as these X5s are far and few in between out there nowadays. The steering wheel: I call it enhanced because it's just a tad bit thicker and had the Alcantara done to the upper section with the perforated leather sides. I removed the factory stock steering wheel and sent it to Germany to this place who does enhanced factory steering wheels. Your own steering wheel. The company is called "Meinlenkrad". They do great work and do speak genuine German since at one point that became a language barrier in explaining to them my instructions. And that was years ago. I'm sure they have someone English speaking now to take orders. Trim: It's 3M Di-Noc. I did the work myself. When I bought the X5, the previous owner had a dog it looked like (dog hairs everywhere) and some of the trim were scratched up so I ended up re-covering the trim pieces rather than source out other trim styles. I like how it turned out actually. Headrests: The face plate hinges out (like a shoe cubby or mailbox door) with the press of a button and the disc is snapped in place. They're aftermarket and they've worked every time the few times I had the kids back there when they were much younger. Each headrest has it's own remote and will play separate discs. The stock ones can always go back in as I have those still and will be part of the sale. Carfax: The seller (dealer) gave me Autocheck records when I bought it, along with all the confidential records BMW NA kept when they bought it back and serviced it from start to finish. These will also go to the buyer for their records as part of the sale. MANGO |
Congratulations on your new baby! Good luck with your sale. First picture on E53 had me very impressed!
