Well, if it was intended for an X5, it's not the right part, as far as I can tell. Likely obvious to most, but thought it deserved a mention.
Good luck with the full kit, Moone. Hey, btw, if you're looking for an X5- compatible Mk4, I know of a seller (not myself but we've corresponded about the items & all relevant part #s, etc) who will beat Rover's price for a full OEM kit. PM me if interested & I'd be happy to share.

So this is not for an X5?

Here's the pic from the Nav FAQs re: how to recognize an X5 Mk4 unit.

Note the boxier shape & opposite eject button.

Do you know what model BMW it will work in?
Here's another auction as an example-
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-bm...QQcmdZViewItem.
That shape/build is generally for the newer 7-series nav's.

You claim you have nav oem cheaper than RoverActive. I want to know more...
Somewhat long story, but I'll just share the link here. He failed to sell this kit over the past 2 months, and I corresponded with him about it. Very straightforward & knowledgable guy. Hope this helps:

If you'd like more info on the seller, just let me know.
Best,

This guy selling on ebay has obviously pieced together the components of the nav system. I would stay away from this kit especially if it's for the X5.

Since he was putting it together for a 5 series, the wiring harness may or may not be the same, I would have to check the part no. The radio module is definately the ancient kind with the round pin connectors...which will probably not work with the new wiring harness without an adapter. Other pieces like the trim piece is not for the X5, and nor are the installation brackets.

Even at $2500, it is way over priced in my opinion! Especially since the parts are used and you don't know for sure whether they work or not.

does anybody know if that is the part number for the CD changer that plays MP3 encoded discs?

that one is not the one that plays mp3.
look for this part number 6512 6977766-03 a few people said that that one plays mp3

NOC 03-03-2006 03:46 PM

It seems like this MKIV unit will not work for an X5.
Good luck to the seller, and please clarify on whether what model it is for.
