New M3 SMG steering wheel and 4.8 exhaust

Thought this was sold and I packed it up for shipping. Waited many days and got no payment on this so I am relisting this for sale and dropping the price to move it. It's already packed up and just need to change the shipping address. Will ship out fedex ground and would prefer to ship within the USA. Local pickup in NJ also available. $475 shipped or $450 local pickup

On a separate note, I also have a new 4.8 exhaust from the cat back- brand new never installed. These are the dual oval exhaust. Would only prefer local pickup in NJ for this. The picture below shows the 4.8 exhaust in its full cat back form. $1025 includes both brand new 4.8 exhausts...local pickup

Here is what is looks like installed in an X5:

Here are the actual pictures of the wheel. There is one stiching that has come out and can be glued back into place.

Pictures of the 4.8 exhaust "cat back" vs. 4.4 exhaust... which I borrowed from another X5 member. The deep growl and rumble you get on WOT, not to mention the looks is priceless.

obviously you havent experienced the joy of paddle shifting my friend:thumbup:
Now as for the 4.8is exhaust . I did the same retrofit look on my 4.4 and I love it. while no catback exhaust will give any real HP gains but the look and sound is just right for me ..not too loud but looks great

Was not sure if I was going to keep the BMW. However, I ended up selling my moddified lexus faster than I expected. Wife likes the X5 and its the safer car and will now become my daily driver. I plan on revisiting the mods on it. This SMG wheel has been sold. The exhaust is still available and has been reduced to $950 pick up in NJ or $1050 shipped. If it does not sell, than I will probably install it. I really like the sound of the race exhaust from Eisenmann and Dinan but do not like their prices. :tsk:
I have some new SMG wheels on order which I plan on installing as well as some Dinan parts and angel eyes.

Where are you in New Jersey, I live right in Bucks County, Pa...outside of Philly

DrewX5 06-07-2006 06:14 PM

I am about 30miles from the PA boader "rt. 80 corridor"

HamannE53 06-08-2006 10:44 PM

hey drewdrew, do you install these steering wheels? (smg)

DrewX5 06-09-2006 07:00 AM

No not yet. I plan on installing it on my own in the coming days. There seems to be a few different ways to install this. I can make a circuit to connect the paddles into the transmission, or use the existing wires from the paddles and add a connector to the end and tap into the transmission. I will test a few different methods to see which works the best. My goal is still to be able to remove and add the wheel incase I ever sell the car. I will let you know which method works best. Once I feel comfortable installing this on my own car, than I would feel better installing this on other members X5.

On a side note, the X5member who bought this wheel from me had it installed at a place in center city, philly for around $200 bucks. They spliced and shrunk wrap the wires from the paddle shifters directly into the transmission and it works. This would be a more permanent of an install.

Drew thanks again for the SMG wheel it works great on my 4.6is, I am having a lot of fun with it can't wait for my first road trip.

Wait...is the M3 wheel still available for sale???

ljnlaw 06-09-2006 07:08 PM

Surreal: I think that Drew has a few of them...pm him I am sure he can get you a good deal on one...if you don't have a round airbag you will also need the airbag (aprx. $500) and a new SMG clock spring/steering contact unit (aprx. $80) I love the wheel, there is nothing like an M wheel it feels better than any other wheel I have ever owned.

surreal 06-09-2006 07:22 PM

Thanks..ljnlaw....where did you purchase the round airbag..(are they already in the 4.8 wheel???)
