$26,500 seems like a high starting bid?

r6girl 02-23-2007 12:11 PM

10, do it all again

E61Silver 02-23-2007 12:17 PM

Did you see this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...QQcmdZViewItem

It sure does smell, $8,000, what are his terms?

there's definitely something wrong with that auction. the account just had a name change (and therefore has no feedback) and the seller is claiming that he can't be reached through the ebay "contact the seller" system - sounds like hi-jacked ebay account...

E61Silver 02-23-2007 12:25 PM

Ebay should of pulled this, they have failed to paytroll the site and keep it safe.

E61Silver 02-23-2007 12:37 PM

Heres one that looks really nice

The thing about ebay is that they never give you the full story:

Was the car in a accident?
How did you happen to get?

If the car was in great shape you would think that a BMW dealer would be selling it.

 How did I miss this thread?!?!?!?!

One thing I have learned about Ebay is if you set your starting bid too high you won't get any bids. People tend to like to think that they can get it "maybe" for a cheap price, then they get caught up in the action of trying to win the item. If you relist, keep the reserve and buy it now price the same but make the starting bid $1,000 or something.

You'll either:

A) Get your selling price.

A) Sell it for more than the asking price, I have even seen auctions go over the Buy it now price (fricking idiots)

B) You might also get a bid that doesn't meet your reserve, but is just a bit below and you might decide to sell it anyways to them.

Also by setting the starting bid so low you will jack up your bid count. Why is this good? Because people look at that when browsing... "high bid count, must be a good item"

Thanks! I think you are right. I should have started lower. I just figured that was a decent price. If someone wanted it for that price....

Ebay is a game, you are totally right

ambishop 02-23-2007 03:29 PM

Maybe someone will just buy it for the license plate....

Yea, I just wish I could figure out all the tricks, I would be rich.

ambishop 02-23-2007 07:23 PM

I forgot I already posted the link and tried to delete it after hitting post. It got a little out of hand after that

E61Silver 02-23-2007 07:39 PM

I would much rather by a used car from another member that the group knows. Sorry to give you a hard time about the asking price. Ebay is a game you can always re post if it does not sell. Next time start at a lower bidding price put set the reserve at the price you want to sell at.

We all know Martin, he's a tremendous contributor of info with BMW nav systems.
