Sorry for a dumb question, what is this filter for?

mtX5 06-22-2009 12:49 AM

cleans the air coming into your car (ventilation system). needs to be changed every once in awhile. dealer can charge up to $70 for filter + install. but it is very easy to change, takes a minute. installation instructions included.

I was thinking that sounded a little high but hey no worries.

why are you posting a link for micronair cabin filter on this thread? thats not what this thread is for.

this is a mann filter sold by BavAuto.com for $35 (w/o shipping) it is very close to the OEM one, which retails at about $50.

Is the micronair not close to OEM? I am new to this forum so feel free to correct me. I have always thought these forums and messegeboards were about helping fellow enthusiasts out, turning people onto good deals and helping with info and how to's. I realize the idea that "if you don't like the price stay out of the post" but this member put up a link to an equivalent part which is half the price basically of what your asking for. I know I was appreciative of the link. I realize your a premium member and might feel snubbed by him posting the better deal buy hey that's just me.

I think you are correct, we are here to help each other!
I think that there is most likley not a big difference other than the price,
but everybody can decide for themselves! ;)

there is a difference in quality/how long it lasts. just like their is a difference in the type of air filter you use..some last longer than others..etc.
