BMW 20" Wheels Style 214 for my X5 35d
Hi All,
I am looking for style 214 20" Y Spoke rims for my 2009 BMW X5. I will buy them with or without tires. Must be BMW OEM. If you have a set for sale email me at [email protected] *** Also, has anyone installed 20" wheels on their 35d? How is the ride and handling? *** Cheers |

I noticed on another thread that Tirerack.com sells them for $200
Sorry to sound out of it, but are the TPMS part of the vehicle or part of the wheels? If I buy used OEM wheels and tires that come off another X5 will they have the sensors with them? |
They are part of the wheels actually embedded in the valve stems. The valve stems look different so you should recognize them at a glance. Hard to say if you buy take off wheels from another BMW if they are included. Since they are spendy I would think most people will take them out for their new wheels. Buyer beware...
Thanks for the tip from Tire Rack. I haven't bought my tires yet so I planned to shop around for the sensors too, so clearly BMW is not the cheapest (big surprise!). |
Is there a difference in ride between a 35d, 3.0 and 4.8? I'm guessing that they should be the same (relative to the sports package/adaptive drive packages).
Ride is pretty subjective. I found the 214's on my 4.8 exceeded my expectations. It was stiff (the way I like it), but way more comfortable than a sedan with low profile tires. I don't feel the irregularities/harshness of the road as I do in my 3'er or MB E class. The 128's (21") that I have on them now are not that big of a difference from the 20". Slightly stiffer. |
We added the 214 style to our 3.5d with winter wheels (non-run flats) and the ride is actually better than the 19" run flats. :thumbup:
a full set of OEM TPMS from the dealer are $315 for a '10. Some people have been using earlier year TPMS with success in a '10 which (as you noted) can be found else where cheaper. If you're going to run the 11" wide rears, you'll need the sport package fender extensions as well. However we are running 275/40's on the 10" front 214's all around for winter and they look great without the sport package fender extensions and perfectly fill out the wheel wells. A full set of brand new oem 214 wheels can be purchased from Tischer for about $2k (not including tires, TPMS, and mounting and balancing). Quote:

That's what I was originally told by Tirerack when I called to purchase their TPMS for the '10. Apparently they were wrong :dunno: because others have successfully used '09 sensors on their '10. I believe TPMS sensors are new for some of the BMW lineup in '10 but not all (but don't quote me on that). I bought them in November and perhaps was a guinea pig for Tirerack....not sure :(. I should have asked the dealer at the time if the part numbers for the '10 were the same as previous model years :slap:, but I didn't and accepted Tirerack's advice on blind faith since they had always been right in the past. Oh well, it was only an extra $100 and they have saved me waaaaay more than that over the years in lower-priced tires.;)
