Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Seems like you've tried everything, I hope you can get her fixed. What did the indy say about these newest problems - new block?

Basically.

i wonder if a 4.6 engine would work. someone is selling it in the for sale section.

There are several salvage places around the country, I am sure you can find one. or make it a project car (if you have money) and get engine from another BMW. ;)

M5 James had his V8 custom rebuilt .

Can you post/ give me a thread he may have posted?

I'd cosider it and try to find it but i wouldn't complain if you post the link.

Here are some salvage parts stores....Google search below for more. If you want to seriously make it into project car and try to fit some more powerful engine or a ESS or Gpower unit...then you need to work with the tuners. Try Nate @ Ind-dist. They can hook you up with right people.

The N62B48 comes in two versions, both displacing 4.8 L (4799 cc/292 in³). The first is a 265 kW (360 hp)/500 N·m (369 ft·lbf) used in the BMW X5 4.8iSA, while a different tune is used for the 270 kW (367 hp)/490 N·m (361 ft·lbf) version. Bore is 93 mm and stroke is 88.3 mm.
