Yes, you lose use of the CD changer. But honestly, once you have an iPod and Ice Link you have to ask yourself - what's a CD?
Tell me about running the wire up to the center console, and dumb it down for me.

Only reason I don't want to lose the changer is if I forget the iPod at home or at work or wherever. I need my emergency fix for when Sirius is dropping out and as we know free radio stinks!

Ice Link install on X5 with DSP

I have a 2001 X5 with Business CD and DSP option.

I want to install the Ice Link in the trunk area connected to the CD changer.

I believe I need another option that will work with the DSP and that I also will need a 12V power source.

I have a 30GB Ipod Photo.

I am going to order the following:

I20_BMW_TDSP,
ICE_EXT15

How difficult of an install will this be and does this come with the docking cable?

Okay the previous owner installed an aftermarket system that I am trying to revamp. My 4.4 has nav. The headunits wiring harness was spliced and the speaker leads crimped to a hi to lo level converter which is connected via RCA to an A/D/S 6 channel amp (replacing the BMW DSP amp). The amp drives the factory speakers plus a subwoofer. The system also includes an Alpine XM RF tuner under the drivers seat which controls the XM, 6 CD changer and has an additional stereo input which is connected to a Monster Performance Car™ MP3 MusicConnect™ cable to connect the RF tuner to my Ipod.

The issue is obviously the poor sound quality due to RF which is why I wish to hardwire. Marin Auto Stereo (who installed the system) claims that they were unable to hardware the XM due to excessive engine whine that could not be eliminated btw the headunit and amp (I reduced this with 2 RS ground loop cables).

So can and how do I use your product?

I have tried too, to email and call Tom, however so far no response. I'm assuming the holiday weekend is keeping him busy. I just want to make sure I'm added on to the list.

With the Nav setup you will need the trunk radio kit. If you want to hide the iPod in the cup holder area then you'll need the cable connector, not the docking cradle.

Thanks.
