From Dinan's website: Dinan's aggressive intake system for the X5 increases both the volume and velocity of the air coming into the engine providing increased horsepower and torque. The system design brings air in from outside the engine compartment in order to provide the coolest, oxygen rich air possible for maximum power gains. The custom Dinan free flow performance air filter is housed in an insulated enclosure under the hood, again reducing intake air temperatures, as well as providing an inviting intake growl.

How many miles on the filter? Will I need to change it or will it be fine for another few K miles?

19000 on filter. Dinan suggests to change every 50000 miles. I would just get a new one.
