Custom bumper for OEM X5 tow hitch (and now FS)

I never cared for the gaping hole the OEM tow hitch specified to be cut out of the rear fascia. So I decided to make my own smaller cutout and customized trim kit. I did re-orient the face plate for the plug switch to access it from underneath the car. Attached are photos for how it turned out. I couldn't have been happier.

But...as things would have it, I'm doing a lease buy-back with BMW on this X5 and had to remove my customized tow hitch and bumper. The tow-hitch will go on my 2011 X5, but I'm selling my custom bumper I created for anyone who wants to use it for their pre-LCI X5.

I'm selling the bumper, with all it's love, sweat and tears, for $350. I'd prefer to sell to a southern CA buyer to avoid shipping, but we'll see how that goes.

PM me if interested.

blue dragon will become famous soon enough
Looks very good. I plan on doing the same, I'm installing the hitch, but I also have to modify the aero kit.

If anyone's interested, I'll also have several sets of the dual stainless tips I had created for my pre-LCI X5. They mount up just like the conversion to the 4.8i tips did.

PM me if interested. I have plenty more pics.

Does the hitch receiver pin fit behind the fascia?

Looking closely at the pictures of your custom OEM hitch install mod and custom trim piece, I can't figure out how the large pin inserts into the receiver. Does it fit behind the fascia? Is there sufficient clearance for the pin? Do you buy a special type retaining pin that fits? I am in the process of duplicating your mod, but with the 2012 LCI trim piece and want to make sure it will work in a practical sense.

I do not mind getting under the bumper to plug in the electricals or the pin....but it does need to fit!

Looking forward to your response....

Cheers,

I'm interested in the quad exhaust tips. Are they new? How much? Clamps or welding needed? I have a pre lci x5d. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Jeffkukuruda,

Yes, I still have 2 sets and can make some more. They are set up to be clamped on, but you can certainly weld them if you'd like to go that route. These are custom meticulously made here in southern CA. I sent you a PM to exchange more info.

John
