I am giving up on the project because I have some pressing personal obligations and the money would be very nice to have. I also have another E53 which is my "beater" car. Under these circumstances, having two cars is a bit irresponsible - especially when those two cars are BMW X5s. Even more irresponsible is having one X5 as a project, money-sucking mule.

Exactly why I sold my 2nd car this summer and bought my Triumph, my Volkswagen GLI was in pristine shape, tastefully modded and had low mileage, I had a buyer pay what I was asking, fly out from Michigan with cash and drive home same day, sight unseen.

I took that cash, bought my Triumph, and still had 7k left to put into our Air conditioning installation in the house (built in 1952 and the old lady never installed AC lol, so that was our first big spend). For myself, it was a win win because the "money pit" was gone, the wife was happy because we had extra cash for our house, and I was happy because I was "back in the saddle again" to quote Aerosmith.

I know what its like to want to have money for other things, or just to stop throwing it in the "money pit". I realized my VW would never be the fulfilling project I wanted it to be, and plus I was also at that point spending time and money to keep my 03 5-speed in pristine shape, since I bought that in 12/11 it wasn't up to my standard. Plus, I sold my old cycle to buy the X (needed a daily driver that could go anywhere, a 3 inch lowered VW is not that), and I was literally depressed for the first time in almost 5 years not having a motorcycle makes you feel very trapped.

Enough with my story though, GLWS, I know you put a lot of blood sweat and tears into this, honestly though, a good replacement suspension, a set of staggered OEM 20s, and reupholstered pillars (easy fix) would have this car on the road to a buyer. Although not compelte by your standard, it would sell.

Like I said, you just need a purist, and a BMW purist at that. I'm hoping you can get in the 20s for the car with what you put into it, but like i said most are looking at it and expecting 2 more cylinders, or at least a blower on it.
