Here's a dumb question.

After all the parts are sold what does a seller have left, the shell of a car? What happens next? Calling the junk yard pick up the rest of the X? What about the motor and transmission. Aside from an accident, How does a vehicle get to the point that it's only worth stripping the parts?

You can recycle the shell of the car for scrap, any steel or aluminum left over you'll get about 50 cents a pound.

Thanks Ricky Bobby,

From my limited perspective it seems like a lot of work dismantling a vehicle
In the garage then sending out the parts to all the buyers. Then there's the loading
the shell of the X in a shopping cart and wheeling it to the recycler.

Just kidding about the shopping cart.

I think its a good thing what Young is doing for the forums/community though since a lot of us could use the good parts on his car and as opposed to paying dealer pricing we could give him a few bucks for his med bills, and help him get into an even better E53/Bimmer for when he is recovered and able to drive again. The 4.8iS has a lot of nice goodies in it, definitely more value in the parts on that E53 as opposed to a base model 3.0

I agree with this. Lots of people needs working parts at a discount. TTGTR is doing the forum a service.

Shit the front brakes are an upgrade to any e53.

The rear bumper, and exhaust are also a sweet buy for a 4.4.

Shipping on some of this stuff will be a hard pill to swallow though. Even packaging.

Exhaust from resonator up to header is up for grabs, I already called him for the resonator back sections as I plan on fitting to my 5-speed
