AUTOBAHN BMW REPAIR, LOUISVILLE KY
This Morning I had the pleasure of taking my 2003 X5, 3.0, 130k, to Autobahn BMW Repair in Louisville KY, This is definately the answer that I have been looking for in an Independent shop!! :wow: The Owner, Russell had great knowlege of BMW's as was the head Mech. Mark, They allowed me to sit in the garage and watch them and ask questions while they changed my oil, and did a basic maint. I inspection, they were really great to explain some of the little things and issues that I have been seeing/ hearing and thinking about how the X was running as well as helping me identify some things that I might want to have done in the future... it wasnt like "oh this looks horrible lets replace it now!!! oh and that will cost you... :stickpoke...." they simply identified some things that looked in good order, and a few items I should start saving to get replaced..... Thier prices are WAY better than ANYONE in the area, it was a FEW HUNDRED $'s less than having it done at the local BMW dealer, Same service, less $$. Not to mention that they gave me an Active Duty Military Discount!! I could go on about how impressed I am with these guys, so if you have any questions feel free to PM me or whatever....

Another Amazing Expirence
With the winter fast approaching I decided to address some minor maint. I started with a DIY, and replaced my FSR, (http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/m...placement.html) It was a rather easy task, Great Write up!! with the FSR and my comfort addressed, I started thinking about the engine and what it could use before the "real" cold set in... With 133K and without any major issues that I have had to remedy up to this point, I knew that there was a thing or two that I would like to replace as a "preventative measure". With out hesitation I called the staff of "AUTOBAHN BMW REPAIR of LOUISVILLE" And we discussed possible items that usually cause problems especially with this mileage and the upcoming winter... The conclusion, to replace the Oil separator and hoses, (as I had noticed a slight build up of an orange "gunk" on the dip stick last winter, but no issues all summer) So we scheduled a separator replacement and for me to drop off the X first thing in the morning, and they arranged a rental for me... (being a small indy shop, they don't have loaners, but with an account at a near by rental car place they arranged for me a good deal on a rental) Once I arrived at the shop, I was greeted and we pulled the X into the bay to give her the once over, I mentioned a few minor things that I had notice and some things that I had read here on X5 World (http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/15435-high-pitched-whistle-when-you-accelerate-i-found-where-mine-coming.html?highlight=whistle+intake) as well as the best way to wire up my AE's, since I had installed my P53's, (whole nother issue here) I was hesitant to play with wires and end up getting in over my head, so I opted to wait to hook them up. anyway, off I went on my way with the X in the hands of some true proffesionals...
This morning I went back to pick up the X, right away I was taken into the shop so I could see first hand the work they had completed... to my suprise they had wired my AE's in a VERY clean OEM looking fashion, :wow: DRL AE's!!! The also addressed the whistling noise that has been driving me crazy, !! (link above) They replace my separator, and did it all in a very clean fashion... They also took the time to look into the freezing door lock issue that alot of us are familiar with, since I did not ask them to replace the latch, they used a "home remedy" and we will see if it works, but hey it is worth a try, I am not out anything... Along with the scheduled maintanence and they things they fixed "just because it was the right thing to do", they identified some things that I should look to replace in the future and gave me some great advice. All in all, every time I have done business with the guys at Autobahn, I am simply impressed by the outstanding customer service, and the true passion that they have about BMW's and the enthusiasts that drive them! and not that you could top all that but they are absolutely the the best priced shop that I have found within traveling distance of Louisville, so that along with better quality and friendlier service than that I have recieved at the major dealer or anywhere for that matter! Thank you Autobahn for breaking the rule of "You get what you pay for", the services you provide are truely priceless. To anyone who is looking for a BMW or Mercedes independant shop, Autobahn is definately worth a try. Regards, Zac FWIW, I am not on thier payroll, and I dont campaign for them, I am simply in the business of supporting those few great Americans and thier businesses, who support those who serve, and conduct their businesses with a passion for service and honesty. |
Best Choice for BMW or MERCEDES BENZ vehicle repair in Louisville
I am posting because I was doing a Google search for Mercedes Benz repair shop in my area and came across this thread and website. After reading Zacman's post(thanks Zacman for the indirect referral to a great company!) I decided to give Autobahn BMW Repair a go for my car needs. Yes, their name is Autobahn BMW but the other side specializes in Mercedes Benz. I spoke at length with David, not sure if he was the owner or co-owner. I was in desperate need of a coolant flush today. It's almost out and it's been below freezing temps around here for a very long time! Today it actually reached above 45 degrees and I wanted to take care of this issue immediately!
He was very helpful & pleasant and went out of his way to assist me in any way he could. He actually steered me away from his shop and recommended I simply go to my local AutoZone and have the guys there help me fill it up. Being a woman not knowing how to do that stuff and having two little ones under 3 I thought "Yes, that sounds perfect since I was short on money and having two kids running around a repair shop's waiting area would be a NIGHTMARE". He could have easily told me to come down and stuck me with a bill for 2 or more hours labor, coolant flush, coolant, pressure test, racking it blah blah blah. David wasn't trying to rip me off or just try to get me in the door. In fact he was very kind and accomodating. David did quote me what it would cost if I decided to come in today which was less than HALF per hour what the local Mercedes Benz dealer was charging for the same service(s) and he did try his hardest to squeeze me in today and even said he'd wait for me since I live almost an hour away. Even at his prices, albeit very reasonable, I just couldn't afford it this month. Sure the average man would probably have known or been able to just fill their tank themselves, but being a lady I just don't know about all that car stuff. I had called the local Mercedes Dealer in town (only one comes up in a Google search in Louisville and their name begins with a T) and I wouldn't recommend them at all. That dealer wanted almost $200 and their hours were VERY limited and inconvenient, they're only open til noon on Saturdays and stop taking service appointments at 10:30am stop taking them at 3pm on weekdays! I got off the phone feeling really good about humanity and people in general after talking to David. He went above and beyond to help a potential customer and fellow man(uh, wo-man). I am very grateful for his helpful heart. Thanks David for saving a poor, strapped mother of 2 lots of money, time, gas, travel, frustration and aggravation. God Bless you! I will use Autobahn BMW Repair when I have more funds to go around and will continue to recommend these guys for many years to come even if I move out of KY because I believe that's how good these guys' hearts are. If you live in or around the Louisville area and own a european vehicle that needs repair, namely BMW and Mercedes Benz I highly recommend at least calling these guys to see what they can quote and do for you. You won't be disappointed, and no, I'm not on their payroll or a family member. Here is their contact info: Autobahn BMW Repair 1403 Hugh Ave Louisville, KY 40213 (502) 456-0472 |
