I Did Something Bad...
 

:tsk: okay, so i decided to go do a quick little interior cleanup of my x. so i picked up these armor all "protectant" wipes. so i take one out and im cleaning my dash and my a/c vents and im getting this wet clean look. so i do my dash and the steering wheel base. so everything is starting to look good and after some time i see that this stuff is not really drying. so i go back to my finished spots and this stuff feels like greasy. so i have this reallyyyyy shiny look and the stuff is kinda greasyy. is this bad? is there anyway to get rid of it? or will the greasiness just go away? it doesnt look bad, but my dash didnt look that shiny when the car was new. idk someone help please. thanks for the read. oh yea, if i should be shunned (lol love that word) for using these wipes, let me know and ill never use them again. :tsk:

okay update....

i just tried to wipe it all away with a clean dry cloth. it doesnt look as shiny as before which is really good. i guess its not that bad. but is this garbage going to go away? will it damage the dash, im getting scared...hehe.

There's a reason why BMW (and many other makes) dashes aren't shiny. You don't want the shine reflecting off of the front windshield and causing a glare problem.

I think Armor All should come off with a little mild soap and water. If not you might have to get your dash replaced. (just kidding ;) )

I use water only on my dash and other non-leather interior plastic items and leather cleaner & conditioner for the leather (Zaino). Save the armorall for the Chevette tires...

Found these suggestions on Autopia:

"Woolite:Water 50/50 will work fine. Hell even dish soap 1:10 with water will work."

"As a first step I would try a damp mf towel and buff with a dry one."

I use armor all. The key when using armor all on plastics is to gently wipe with a towel afterwards. If not the excess oil will not form an even coating...

NEVER EVER use Armor All products. They contain bleach and will not only dry out whatever you put it on but will fade it over time.

Stick with Maquiars products for your interior.

(and don't use anything but water on the top of your dash)

thanks for all of the advice everyone...its not nearly as bad as it was after i wiped it down. hopefully it goes away, during my next cleaning ill do the dash with soap and water which will hopefully get rid of it...thanks again.

Armor All + Sun = Fade, my sisters RSX is showing signs of fade because of it. I say if you don't garage your car, try soap and water to get it off, im scared to use that stuff now.
