Wax for Black X?

I've heard a lot of rumors that you need a "special wax" for black cars to prevent streaking. I've been using Zymol on my other cars, but the X is my first black car. Any recommendations on the wax I should use?

I use Zaino on mine, but I don't see why Zymol wouldn't work if that's what you like...

I have tried Meguiars, Turtlewax, AutoGlym, P21S but my favourite has to be A1 Speed Wax Plus 3 from OK Wack Chemie. Nanotech or such like

No staining to plastic, no streaking, quick to apply, no smears, deep lustre and can last for several months, not that I wait that long. And best of all its about 8 quid for a half litre bottle.

Got best carwax award from Auto Express and AutoBild.

I just got my car detailed with Zymol a couple of days ago, and it really looks great. I've never seen a car shine like this one does. My X5 is Jet Black.

I like Zaino, Duragloss, original 1Z Glanz and S100 on black
(not all at one time though:)

Black is my favorite color to detail as you can see the biggest change in appearence on black paint.

"If" streaks do occur, most likely it is the oils in the product (I have never had Zaino streak)
It could also be the prep work, such as uneven polishing or uneven claying.

I worked on one car, black and it had streaks going up and down the hood.
I tried to repolish, then wax, but syill looked like a lot of streaks.

It was only after I clayed again that I realized how bad the paint condition was. The streaks was caused by uneven claying by the last person.

Just take your time, do it right the first time, if you need help, ask, and all will come out well:)

Hope this helps...

Anyone ever try Rejex? I use it on my Porsche with fantastic results. I have yet to try it on the X3. About 20 bucks a bottle, easy on and easy off. I do the body, windows, and wheels with it.

If its black then a very good choice is Pinnacle Souveran. I have used everything from Zaino, Klasse, Poorbys, you name it i tried it. Nothing has IMHO matched Souveran's depth and shine. Remember the wax is just the topper the polishing and preping of the paint is were your going to see the big difference.

On a dark car, the polish is just as important as the wax. If you don't have any swirl marks or spider-webbing, throw a layer of Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish (not paint cleaner) on, then wax with NXT. Remember, you don't need to let polish dry/set-up like wax, put it on, then wipe it off or use a Porter Cable.
