Frequency of Waxing
Many of you may think I am crazy, but I enjoying washing and waxing my car....and I tend to do it frequently.
But, I have been told that waxing your car/sav more than once a month is bad for the paint....Just curious how often you wax your car and how often you would wax your car if time were not an issue Thanks |
No! Its perfectly fine!
People who say such things, also assume that since a car has clearcoat, it doesn't need waxing... Sorry but thats just ignorant. Now I maybe understand if you're using a wax with abrasives in it (not many that I can think of), and most "cleaner waxes" have chemical cleaners and very little abrasiveness if any. WAX away. Although I may say that waxing more than once every 3 weeks, even with the weakest of waxes is too much. Try using a QuickDetailer after washing to restore the just waxed look... But, if you really want to wax every week for example, and enjoy the time spent, just look for a pure wax. A lot of OTC waxes have cleaners in it (even if they don't say so), but to name a few that don't, I'd choose, Meguairs #26 Yellow Wax OR Mother's Gold Pure Carnuaba..... NXT Tech wax has light cleaners in it, only enough to allow you to get a good base, try that too if u want. |
You don't need to do it monthly, unless you are in one VERY harsh environment. Usually every 3 or 6 months is fine and will keep a good level of wax on the vehicle, provided that you don't use cleaners that pull the wax off.
Start using some good polish sprays and you will not feel the need to wax as often  |
Once a month is excessive imo.... get a good spray touch up wax and some good chamios'. Also, you can use a good polish every now and then to touch up between waxes.
