Update** I got the soda stains out with the kirby spot treater. It gets all different food stains out of carpets. ;)

Ok Here's the answer. Just had the same problem, Spilled coke on a light colored truck carpet. Got a terry towel and a small stiff brush. And i used this. After 20 years of cleaning carpets i have found nothing that works like this. Uses foam, does not soak the carpet, and dry's fast. Oh yeah the coke spot? Not a trace of it anywhere.

Carbona Carpet cleaner is great too, never had an issue with it discoloring any automotive carpet.
