surface scratch
1 Attachment(s)
I got a scratch on my passenger door. It is a surface scratch, it does not cut into the door. I have tried some scratch removers, and I think that I made it worst becuase there is a small section where the paint is not blurry. Anyone know of anything that I can do to fix this, without going to the bodyshop. I have some other body problems, crooked bumper and deep scratches along the back panel that I do not think I will get fixed because the body shop is quoting me too much $$. But is there anything I can do about the scratch?? Thanks in advance.

That sucks! But I have seen worse.
Can you feel it with the tip of your fingernail? If you can't then it can be removed completely. If you can feel it it can be made "less visible". I would wash the whole car, or at least the panel where the scratch is. Always try using the least aggressive polish that will remove the scratch. Here is a great article on scratch removal. http://www.autopia-carcare.com/inf-polishing.html |

If that's a scratch from someone's mirror it should come out. If it looks like plastic that is rubbed off from their car it should come out. I used mcquire's wax cleaner. :D

If there's no edge to the scratch, it's a good possibility that you can buff it out yourself with an orbital. You might also try some polishing compound. if there's an edge, i.e you can feel the scratch edge with your hand, I would have a pro fix it.

try a light compound then some wax if not use a high speed buffer and wet sand it .. Should come out fine..
