Detailing: tires

Anyway to stop the splashing of those tire dressing after putting them on? I've tried using less and wait for it to dry (so I thought) before driving my X5. But I find trails of it on my truck. Help please.. :(

I use Aerospace 303 - best stuff for tires IMO - doesn't fly off the tires at all if you apply it correctly.

you can just spray armor all onto the tires and wait for it to dry.

the lazy way, but it works...

No splattering and its a matte finish, this is the stuff I've been using for a few years now.

Doesn't get any easier than Adam's VRT. Great look too!

How long does it last before the next application?

detailersdomain 02-24-2007 01:44 PM

Well it really all depends on the environment. If all is perfect I would say the Adam's last about 2-3 weeks, no rain, no puddles, the application was perfectly applied, the tires were degreased and cleaned up properly.

Thanks. I'll give Adam's a try. I'll order one today. Any site that have good prices?

I've never had "sling" problems with Mequiars tire dressing....

myinfernalbmw 03-03-2007 11:06 AM

you won't have a problem with most tire dressings as long as you allow proper drying time

One other tip is to be sure and clean the tires so the protectant can stick to it.
I use Meguiars tire scrub brush and a rubber cleaner. Just basicly spray the cleaner on the tire and scrub. Rinse and repeat.
Then dry and apply the rubber care product of your choice.
If you just leave the dead rubber, brake dust and who knows what else is stuck to the rubber nothing will stick and sling off.

thanks for the tip. I scrubbed it down good then use Adam's. It came out great.
