Roof rack gets dull and gray. How to fix?
 

My roof rack on 02 X5 is dull and gray. I think its caused by hard water and the weather. Mother Back to Black just helps a couple of days, after a wash or rain it would turn back to dull and gray finish. How do you detail them to have long lasting BLACK and shiny finish? I think the finish is baked paint, can I just get it resprayed with high gloss paint?

I think the rack delete mod looks pretty good. I have also wondered if you can paint the rack like the body trim. I think it would look better on lighter color X's (silver, white)
