Hi all

My question relates to leather care, particularly the steering wheel.

Does anyone know how to retain the matt grippy finish of the leather and prevent the oil build up from your hands over the years that makes the leather kind of shiny?

good question!! I wish I knew, I am constantly wishing I could condition my wheel with leather conditioner, without the oily feeling.

Personally, I don't use anything on the steering wheel. Not even a *matte* interior product.

I do vigorously clean about every 2 weeks with a damp microfiber

You gotta use the leather conditioner..just use a tiny bit on a microfiber..thats really the only way to keep the leather on the wheel in good condition...

YMMV, but I have TONS of Quality Detailing Stuff.
It's my understanding that on our vehicles, the leather is coated so whatever product you use, it's mainly *topical* and doesn't really absorb into the leather.

For the 1st 2 years, I religiously cleaned and conditioned the leather every 3 months.

For the last 2, I've been using use a damp MF, and cleaning it giving it a wipedown everytime I wash the car. I WILL Throw on a heavy coat of leather conditioner the second to last week to august (when it's 90 degrees plus) and also put a coat in spring....but I'm thinking it's more placebo affect of me putting it on as I have not noticed any difference.


However, clean and maintaining them clean is important.
If you guys buy a soft horsehair/boars hair brush and 1st vac your seats....and then mist down your seats with water and then scrub, you will be AMAZED HOW MUCH CLEANER you can get your seats IMO.

Good input guys!! I agree with chefwong about the soap and water with a brush on the seats!! I did mine and it gets the fine dirt out between the grains in the leather!! them condition them with meguires!! looks awsome!
