Help with very bad water spots...
 

Okay, I live in San Diego (Ramona actually) and was evacuated because of the fires here. On the way out of my house my car was covered in ash of course.

Long story short, I went to Palm Springs and the first night there I parked my car in the hotel lot and didn't notice that I had parked where the sprinklers would hit.

You guessed, not only water spots, but very, very bad water spots from the water and ash drying on my car.

Tried to get them off with clay, no luck.
So, short of having my car rubbed or calling a proffesional detailer (which I will do if I have to) is there anything anyone can suggest that I may be able to do to get the spots off myself????

Wax it...if not buff it or have it buffed. it will come right off..use a rubbing compound and then a polishing compound...;)

Thanks guys. The detail guys came and got them off yesterday with some clay then a little buffing.

Now if only my house could be fixed as easily. :angryfire

I've used vinegar to get water stains off of my windows, if anyone runs into that. I wipe it on with a soft cloth, wait a bit, and wipe it off. Sometimes it needs repeat applications.

The acidic nature of vinegar is very good at tackling lime. I've not tested on the finish.

Argh! I used a sponge where my brother used Palmolive to wash his car, and my car wash soap was suppose dry with very little towel effort, and now the spots are on my paint!?! I wiped them off with Polish/Car Wipes, and I can still see faint water marks at several spots, worse on the lip of the trunk! Will a wax alleviate the situation, also damn spots on the windshield, but I will try dilute acetic acid.
