My water spots on the windows look similar. I'm going to tackle them with the 3" uber foam pads (orange and yellow) and some Mothers Water Spot Remover polish this weekend, will post some before and afters for you.

The "spit and P21S" method looks promising, what P21S are you using again? A polish or a soap?

And I think Phil meant to say "What do you have to use on hand" as in what do you have to try on the windows.

you can repeat if you like it should cut more.

or just use with an orange or yellow foam pad on PC/griots i'm sure that would be excellent :)

Wait, so you're using P21S polishing soap (a metal polish if I'm correct) on glass? Hmmmm I have some Optimum metal polish at home...

Yeah the polish metal. however it says on the bottle that can be used for glass cooktops

That's cool man and it makes sense. I will try optimum metal polish on a spot and see what it does.

In "the old days" to get rid of some of the salt water etching on boats I detailed, we'd use a little "Wink" rust stain remover on a soft cloth on the glass. IIRC it worked pretty well...when coupled with Rain-X most of the spots would go away.

Have to be careful with the wink and not get it on anything but the glass. May be worth a try.

Well I applied some FG400 compound by hand with just an uber all purpose towel, and some Optimum metal polish by hand with the same, and both yielded similar results, better but some etched in spots still there.

I'm going to put the 3" backing plate on my PC and use an orange/yellow 4" pad with both products, I have a feeling using the machine with the cutting action of the foam pads should yield much quicker, and better results. Will start with the orange pad first, I'll save the yellow unless I absolutely see zero improvement.

The FG400 and Optimum Metal Polish both do not leave scratches in the glass (its hard to scratch glass anyways, glass is much harder than paint/clear)

Different question:
What soap do you guys use to strip wax? I think ive heard CG citrus will do it but you guys dont sell that?

Ricky Bobby 01-14-2014 10:25 PM

Artem I saw this was never answered. I'd pour in a few oz of Adams apc in with your soap if you want to do a strip wash before detailing.

I don't strip wash personally, just spend a good time on Decon with auto scrub mitt and clay, then my compounding and polishing after usually strip old waxes and sealants off no problem.
