Wash+Clay+Polish=Pic time

So After receiving the 05 4.8is a few weeks ago, it was in need of a good cleaning.

Started off with a good wash, wheel cleaning. After that there was some trash all over the paint. This included the roof, hood and bumpers. (Since I moved the Sirius antenna into the spoiler, there was allot of glue in the roof paint.) So out came the Zaino clay. Then some polish.

After a good part of Sat and some today. I didn't have much time for fun locations, just a few quick shots.

Onto the pics  This thing just plain ROCKS!

Thanks all. I can't stop driving this thing. Did the home depot run on sat too. It was fun.

I do want to running boards. I just not sure about the price increase for the flairs. I'm still thinking about it. Let me get some more mods done first. The X-pipe and magnaflow bullets to replace the mid pipes are next up.

Also just noticed I need this lower part of the steering column trim.

Steed77 looks great, did you do the AFE or did your X come with it...how do you like it??? If you bought it where did you get it? Thanks

Lawren

ca911 06-22-2008 05:47 PM

i too am not sure about the increase in the price of the flares, i don't really understand why they would increase the price? is demand getting that low?

also, what do you guys think the going rate for oem aluminum running boards should be these days?

noncom23 06-22-2008 07:12 PM

Clean and mean machine!

Lawren Yes I added the aFe. I got it from turnermotorsport.com I do like it. I also got the pre-filter sock for it. (not pictured). The install was VERY simple. Gains... sure, it seems to pull harder above 4K. Great sound as a bonus.

There was someone selling one here in the classifieds a week or so ago. ;)

One more for fun

How do you like those Vredestein tires?

BruinMan 06-22-2008 08:42 PM

Wow! Nice pictures - did you clay and wax that yourself?

True, BMW parts department had a price increase the first week in June. Though I am not sure if it is across the board on everything.

Actually low demand would cause the price to drop. :)

WOW! Looks amazing. The tire tread is wicked too. lol

LeMansX5 06-22-2008 09:22 PM

Hot and sexy. Great metallic color with depth. E39 M5, X5 4.8is and now the new M3 will have the LeMans blue . Running boards will look great. You will have to buy new flares though. I put all four when I put r/b.

Thanks guys!

yea I did it myself and by hand. I do have a Dewalt buffer that I did break out on the rear roof section.

Wash was Poorboys wash.
Clay was Zaino Brothers
Wax was Pinnacle Signature Series II Carnauba Paste

Tires... love them so far. I started a review on them here:

I must remark that the "wax job"/cleaning and,

The clay MAY do it... but if it is superglue, you may need to wetsand.:wow:

I had to remove some superglue off a friends car. (some kids prank) I had to wetsand, compound, 3 step polish. It took a bit of time to get it right.

Less is more if you know what I mean. Start with the clay, then move to compound (med cut) and then go from there. I also use a Dewalt machine. http://www.detailking.com/content/view/79/187/
