Anyone in the New York area know of a good place to take the X to have the engine cleaned?

Major04 06-26-2008 03:51 PM

V - try giving Phil a call. He will detail the hell out of your ride. You wouldn't believe the work that he does. He is one of the sponsors here.

Buy some engine degreaser and do it yourself. Nothing overly complicated.

i tried the wd-40 and hit it with a high pressure hose. started the engine. it made a few weird sounds and died. any idea what could be causing this?

Yah you need to shoot the person that told you to use a high pressure hose and wd40. I've heard that the simple green is really good.

As far as you pissing everyone off on the board.. should be fun to watch. A few ppl I can think off the top of my head that it would be interesting  LOL

Nahhhh....we each took at least 5 shots in the first two hours of the TriState Meet and were still standing...probably another 8 or 10 throughout the rest of the day. No one hit the floor.

But, Vincey, I thought it wasn't a "problem." :stickpoke

If drinking heavily once every few months qualifies me for AA, then sign me up!

post #5 of the now infamous "speed" thread :

"i agree with you but i have a problem. an alcoholic knows he shouldnt drink but he does it anyway. 30 yrs of driving, zero accidents. perhaps my first will be my last."

i know i have a problem but clearly you are in denial. you seem like a nice kid michelle. get yourself some help before you kill somebody.

hey im the trickster that said just spray the crap outta it with wd-40 then hit it with the hose , IT WORKS GREAT I'VE DONE IT 1 EVERY 2 MO'S FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS !!

WD-40 = DEGREASER ONE OF THE BEST CLEANING AGENTS , I USE IT ON MY ATV ASWELL WORKS GREAT !!

rastaFarai 06-27-2008 01:24 PM

LOL but you have to explain "hit it with the hose"

The best practice would be to wrap all exposed wires with tape - and use a LIGHT spray hose..

my IT guy really likes RE-explaining the dynamics of

Electronics and WATER to me.

Did you really H.P. spray the motor then try start it?? :banghead:

IF you are going to spray the engine comp. with water:
A. To be 100% safe-disconnect the battery.
B. As mentioned cover any electronics and wires.
C. Let everything DRY thoroughly before reconnecting battery OR starting the car.
