Left sunroof open last night!
 

yeah I know, I feel like an idiot. I came out to go to work this a.m. and saw that I had a nice 1 to 2 inches of rain by my pedals and the same for the passenger seat. My leather seats are soaked. I shop vac'd everything (very well) but its still all wet. Has this ever happened to anyone? How do I pull the seats and panels so I can dry the pad and frame under the carpet? Should I replace the padding? It also seems as if there might be water in my door panels. The windows keep coming up wet when I roll them up and down. All the buttons work but I noticed some fog this morning in my standard stereo head unit (non DSP) and now see that some pixels went out on the channel numbers. Everything works fine, I just don't like the out pixels and would like to prevent that awful mildew smell that I am expecting. Thanks guys!

You def want to try to pull the carpet out. There is tons of padding in the X - thick too that is probably soaked underneath

There is some thick padding moulded to the bottom of the carpet that holds water like a shamois sponge! (and not repalceable separate, straight moulded to the carpet) You will need to remove the seats and pull the carpet up to fully dry underneath for sure.

And don't worry about the doors, they have drain holes in the bottom for rain water. The felt flocked rubber guides were just wet.

If the seats still move by some miracle then the seat modules might have stayed dry enough, just move full front then full back to expose the 16mm bolt heads that hold the tracks down. (5/8 will work if you don't have metric sockets) And the rear seat just pulls up.

Ditto the above comments. You want to dry out the carpets before mildew sets in.

Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and pickup a cheap stationary floor fan like this one:

If the sun is out, park your car outside in a secure area. Roll the windows down, open the sunroof, pop open the rear hatch. Then use the fan to dry out your carpet. The bigger the fan, the better, because you'll want to place on on your seat and lean it against the dashboard, pointing down towards the floor. Move from seat to seat as sections of the carpet dries out.

If the weather is not warm enough to promote evaporation, you'll have to continue the drying process through the evening. Hopefully you have a covered garage as well. Park the car in the garage in the evening, leave all windows, roof, and hatch open if possible, and keep the fan running if at all possible until the carpets are dry.

Concentrate on the carpet. Everything else should dry out just fine on its own.

I put a dehumidifier in the back seat, on a piece of wood, by running an extension cord from my house into the truck. I let it run all night with all the doors and windows closed. I got about 1 to 2 inches of water in the collection pan. It seems all good now. My plan this weekend is the shampoo the carpets with a steamer and then repeat the dehumifier process.

If you push your fingers down hard on the floor -- like the passenger rear or fronts, do you get water....

Having seen/felt the material that is in the floorboard, it's pretty thick stuck that I don't think *surface* drying may beneficial than just getting it dry immediately...


Or if you want, to just see, pull up the sill rocker trim on one side and then fell under the carpet. You'll get a better idea of what I mean by the foam......
