rock chips

Am about to touchup all my rockchipped paint - got the topaz blue from the dealer - got the Langka kit - plan to wash the car, then spot wash with Dawn detergent to remove any wax - clay area, then use the Langka method

after the rock chipped spots are taken care of, start claying & waxing the rest of my X5 - once I get the touchup buffed smooth (after at least a 24hr set), wax and get the clear bra installed

this is my first attempt at this, so any suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks!

I'll be very interested to see how this turns out. I have rock chips on my driver's side door. No idea how :dunno:. I didn't see the need to repaint my entire door. Please post pictures!

Me too. Please post some before and after photos. I am not familiar with the Langka method, but aren't there kits out there if you have many chips to repair?

I tried the Langka method on our Mystic Blue 3 series and Titanium Silver X5. It works fairly well, but the hardest part is to not rub the touch-up paint off when removing the "blob". It is decent on small rock chips and light scratches, but the bigger chips are a pain.

will take pics this afternoon (before & after) - want to get the clear bra on before I head east next Thurs - about a dozen or more

okay, I have to admit I've done MUCH better work on my plastic models than touching up rock chips. First, the topazblau paint from BMW did not match the car paint. it was darker. A galloping horse MAY not notice it, but my touchup will never be allowed within 100 miles of a concours. forget pics, I do enough stupid, dumb things without posting them to some website.

Thinking I may redeem myself by finally polishing 8+yrs of oxidation on the side pillars, I industriously expend 20 minutes of elbow grease. I start to notice a shiney clear black spot. As I look at what I've accomplished vs what still needs to be done, I'm thinking power tool..., preferably something needing 220v. I keep reminding people that I am lazy. (plus this eyedrop medicine has me gasping for energy) If it's a choice between paying someone else, doing it myself, or getting Barbara Eden (or Nicole Kidman) to 'blink' it for me, I'm looking up Barbara's phone number.

Oh well, I suppose I can keep working on it. I just hope I live long enough to see it done.
