Getting Rid of Cigarette Smell

I am looking at a used X5 and the owner is a smoker. Man does it smell in there. Any suggestions on how to get rid of that odor permanently? I am willing to invest the time to make it go away if I can. This issue could potentially be a deal breaker. Thanks ahead of time for the help. TJCIN

u can't do it yourself. As much wash, cleaning the headliner, etc...Got to a professional auto detailer. They generally use a ozone generator in the car to deal with it.

Can't speak for results...as I've never seen a before/after but afaik, the ozone generator does work. That's in conjunction with stuff you can do as well, which is the full interior cleanup, etc.....

Several suggestions on the ol'Net...try cut up apple slices on a glass plate,
front and back: couple days. If no luck, the commerical/full tilt boogie route
may be the way to go.

Your best bet is to pass on that vehicle. I don't know how sensitive you are to tobacco smoke but I would still be able to smell it no matter what anyone did, short of replacing the entire interior. That's why I would never consider buying a smoker's vehicle or a smoker's house.

Agreed. Hot days, rainy days, after it is closed up for a while, you will smell it. Just look for another car.

I have never smoked and can really smell cigarettes. After some serious thought, I decided to pass on the vehicle. It's amazing to me that people who smoke don't realize how nasty and disgusting that addiction is, Thanks for the input. TJCIN

Use OZUIM... Unload entire can on the inside from outside and use the key to role up the windows... Let it over night and should be fine.

chefwong is right the best bet will be an ozone machine.

the service can cost anywhere from $100-200.

best bet though pass on the car.
