What do I do?
4 Attachment(s)
I got my car detailed by a detailer that my dealer recommended.
Needless to say, that's not happening again anytime soon. How do I fix this? |
I'd bring it right back and make them fix it, and it they can't have them agree to cover the bill to have it fixed. That is horrible work for a detail shop and looks like probably a new guy that didn't know better or care did the job...
|
I would also take it back and demand that their most experienced guy fixes this (unless he was the one who messed it up of course). I can't believe they even gave you the car like that in the first place. I would then call the dealer and tell them what happened at the place they recommended.
|
I called the guy (40 minutes away) and he was dismissive of it. He said if I brought it up he'd "see what he could do" but probably not much. I should have said something right away when I went to get it, but I was in a rush, the wax was fresh enough that I didn't notice and it was cloudy.
Damn detailer was smoking near my car too, stupid hick. |
Reason why I detail myself. if he can't fix you will have to fix yourself or bring it to Phil.

I don't know if I'll be in NJ again, I'll have to figure that out. I'll take a picture, but there are "burn holes" on the black metal strip that has worn down to the metal that I think makes up the rain gutter. Is that from Acid Rain? |
The burn might have come from the detailer using too much pressure on an aggressive pad going over the edge. He should've taped that area up before just to prevent that from happening.

I'm gonna try the owner tomorrow then see what I can do about finding someone to fix it. |
Thats awful. Bring that back to the guy who did it and either have him fix it or get a refund.
|
Please share the name of the detailer so I make sure never to go there for any reason! BTW, Im in greenville too
|
I hope you paid by credit card. I'd call up the bank and dispute payment if this company cannot do a professional job.
|
That's "buffer trail" or hologram, don't panic yet.
The detailer is not very experience or new with rotary polisher, not many people will finish using rotary with soft pad (even experience detailer will pickup PC or Flex DA on the last step. Ask the detailer to run soft pads using very-very mild polish 3M-Ultrafina or Menzerna-PO85RD on soft pad. Move the pads slowly to blend in and light pressure only. If I am the boss of that detailing guy, I'll shout to him "NO MORE ROTARY FOR YOU" ala soup Nazi. Good luck. |
I'd like to hear the verdict on this detail....what's the outcome?

I agree with Weasel.
Don't let any additional time pass by. Speak with the service manager about it. The Mercedes dealer did a similar type thing to my MBZ. I ask them to refund my money and they did. My argument was simple. Would you put this vehicle in your showroom or on your lot ready for sale? |
