Paint stained! Help!

First of all, shoutout to Phil at dd, been a big help in the past few months.

Anyway, something slung up on my paint, maybe tire shine, maybe road crud, not really sure. Anyway, I did the typical "eh it'll clay out". Well to my surprise it didn't. So I went to hand polishing with menzerna super intensive. Nothing... Tried simple green (yeah shoot me for putting that on my paint). Nothing...

My next step is wet sanding with 2000 grit. Just don't wanna go there yet. Ideas anyone?

PS, I have sonax PNS on the car. Could something have reacted with that when it was still curing?? Additionally, it stained the XPEL ultimate film, in addition to bare paint (film I understand, paint I don't...)

I can't comment on the paint much but film, I could see it.
Film is just *porous*. Most pro's won't tell you that....as it's a huge upsell...

Got any pics of the stain on the paint for comparison ?

In the first picture, the quarter panel part has no film on it.

Hard to tell just by looking at the monitor....
How does it feel ? Looks to be some etching but the pattern is so irregular...

It feels 100% smooth. As if nothing is there.

I'm still at a loss with this,

Surprised Ohan wrapped the inner fender liner with film though, because like jsoto says the film is so porous that any high tar/chemical exposure area has a chance of staining.

I don't get it with the paint though. Why not try a bit of gasoline? It's a cleaner so its not going to harm the paint, but you will have to reapply PNS to the area after.

Clue me in ? Who is Ohan.
I'm sorry, I did not want to comment on the PPF - assumed OP did the install, as it looks like amateur hour on that....

Naz, you're close but not in my hood....
Would offer up my Paint Meter if you want to try the wetsand route - as the meter will at least give you a gauge to work on.

If it's smooth, it looks like you might need to cut deep to deal with it , which in that case, I would leave it alone. Is there a different area on that car where it has similar stains, where you could afford to *wetsand deeper* to test

@ jsoto, I was referring to the film installer, whatever has "stained" I'm afraid may have etched.

Try FG400 or similar compound by machine and with an MF cutting pad before resorting to wetsanding.

Oh Mai. I sure hope Naz did not pay for that work. I sure would not have....
