Winter Car Care Tips - Salt Removal Wash

Helpful Winter Tips

• Keeping your vehicle as clean as possible during the winter will go a long way to cut down the damage done by salt and sand.
• Take your vehicle to the car wash as often as possible. If you can get to your undercarriage as well that would be a plus.
• Make sure to protect your car with your favorite wax or sealant.

Make sure the car is completely dry

• Carefully dry the edges of the doors inside and out, including the undersides of door handles, all hinges, plus the hood and trunk edges. This helps keep them from freezing shut.
• Use a good quality spray protectant on all exterior rubber or vinyl surfaces. It may be best to spray they applicator you are using instead of spraying the product directly onto the surface. This will avoid any overspray onto the paint.

Interior Mats - Salt Removal - just as important make sure your interior is free and clear of salt as it will cause long term damage to your interior bits and pieces.

what do you use to dry?

We are using the below for drying

Metro Blaster Side Kick
Metro Blaster 8 Hp
Adam's Great White Drying Towel
Uber Super Drying Towel

you use both the great white and the uber towel? any specific reason for both?

yes a couple of the guys in the shop like one over the other ; )

^^^Theres a place for both towels in my regimen, sometimes you want the waffle weave for absorption but sometimes you want the softest touch and the Uber Super is the absolute best towel on the market overall

If parked outside, what's the best way to protect during winter/extreme cold? Car cover? Can I cover my car right after parking?

is it a daily driver?

Yes, daily driver. No garage.

covering it every day would be

1. a hassle
2. you would be putting a dirty cover on a dirty car so it will start putting small scratches on the paint.


I would put a good sealant on it for the winter.
