Hi All,

New to the forum and my 2003 X5 with 17465/Miles! . Thought I would post my success with a nextel i870 and BT. I purchased a kit from Randy @ eiskits.com. The system went together flawlessly. Took a bit for the i870 to pair, perhaps I was alittle impatient! Any way it did and as long as you do not have more than 50 names in your phonebook it will work. The Voice Recognition systems works excellent also. I have atteched pics I hope they work. Any questions contact me...

Congrats on the BT install. Looks great! Just like my X5 except it says Treo 650!

Good to know, as I am seriously considering switching to Nextel soon, and don't want to give up the BT connection in the X5!

Well, I did switch to a Nextel i870, and so far I am pleased. It paired with the BT non-nav system in my car (2005 X5) and works very well. I even hear my Direct Connect calls via the stereo, but of course have to push the PTT button on the phone to talk.

Sounds like your aftermarket BT actually works better than my OEM, in some ways. My phonebook will not transfer, even though I have less than 10 names in it so far. I am OK with that, but I am sure I will miss that little convenience I had become used to (with my prior Moto V710). The Voice Recog dialing works fine, so I will just have to max that out.

Nextel sucks. Really hate it. Well, their service hasn't been the same since they paired up with Sprint. I hear Sprint has gotten better though, and I'm planning on switching sometime this week, and getting the Sero plan (500 anytime, free mobile to mobile, unlimited texts, free broadband internet, free picture mail, and some other useless stuff for $30).

Well, I just switched (less than a week ago), and have no complaints at all. I got a plan that includes everything my prior plan had (on Alltel), plus free nationwide long distance and unlimited local walkie-talkie, for less money. Coverage is fine in my area.

I had discussed this for months with friends who had Nextel, and none of them were unhappy with their service.

I have tried everything to get away from Nextel. Been with T-Mobile, and others and though more expensive I always come back. For me in my area it's works great. Instant direct connect to Brazil and other countries is nothing less that amazing. Trying to get an i870 with out a new contract or my other choice is a Razr V3i.
