Really stupis question here. BTW this is my first post.

Would like to start off by just saying hi and thanks for these great boards. Seems like there is a ton of info here that will get me off to a modding frenzy

Anyway, on to my stupid question. I have read that everyone seems to be using Bluetooth with thier BMW's. I have a 2001 X5 with DVD nav and the phone controls in the wheel. Is there a specific year that bluetooth was in the X5's? Or are you guys adding something to make them bluetooth compatible?

I have a Samsung a940 which has bluetooth. I didn't see it in the chart that listed compatible phone so I am not sure if I am even trying to read all this info that will be of no use.

So I guess I am just asking if the 2001 came with bluetooth, or if there is a way for me to mod my system so my phone will work.

Thanks for any and all replies

You can certainly add BT to your 2001. I would check out

http://www.bimmernav.com/bmw_x5_bluetooth_retrofit.html

for more information and how to get the parts.

UCrewX5 did it on his '01. Check the DIY (home page) for his write up.
