Help: X3 Retrofit Kit

I'm trying to install my kit, but the plug in the armrest seems to be in the way (see pic below). There's no instructions with the kit. I'm not sure if it's supposed to fit or if I'm supposed to move the plug. It's definitely in the way. Anyone dealt with this?

Also there's a little gold-colored metal springy plate in the trim kit - not sure what it's for. Anyone know?

Too bad they don't include instructions.

Thanks

I'm going to assume that you're installing the 'phone cradle. That said, I had the same problem, and carefully cut the plug loose which then allows everything to fit perfectly. As for the "extra" trim piece, not sure what it's for. Do you have a pic of it? GL!

Do you mean cut the 'link' between the assembly and the bottom, or does the plug come out of that contraption somehow? It looks like it is clipped in place, but I just can't seem to get it undone.

Here's the other bit.

Thanks
Andre

I cut the connection between the assembly and the console as I was unable to remove the plug. As for the other part, I got it with the package as well, and didn't use it. Thus far its absence hasn't affected my installation!

I got the plug unclipped using three paper clips in the little holes - the plug then slid right off the clips. The trim kit is now in nicely.
I also left the little metal piece out. I think I figured out where it goes, but left it out anyway. There's a screw-hole at the back in the centre. The part appears to be just for extra support. BMW really should include some instructions.

Just waiting for the ULF module to come in tomorrow now.

Thanks for your help.
Andre

You're welcome! You obviously have waay more patience than I do if you took the time to figure out how to remove the plug!

My patience ran out, so I came in and ate supper. That calmed me down enough to think about it.

The alternate method to pulling out your hair is to purchase a kit from someone that gives you detailed step by step instructions and phone tech support for all of your questions.

Yes, and I swear I would have, but I had a rather large BMW Canada gift certificate to use - and there was nothing else they sell that I want. Yours would have been cheaper too!

Anyway, they printed the instructions out for me today.

Thanks
