Slide a couple of narrow paint scrapers or some old credit cards down the sides near the back to release the clips.

The credit cards are a great idea. I removed the eject box without any difficulty at all. Hopefully Craig will have time for my V3 mod. Great site!!

Can't get it out!
Quote:
Can you tell me how I can get the bin (under the armrest) out as that's where all the wiring from the cradle runs to. I thought I could just lift the bin out but it won't move. Contrary to all the instructions provided, none of the connectors are under the cradle! The wires run from the cradle down through the guide arms to the back of the bin. I assume that I'll find the connectors. |

jg42 - Removing the bin is easy. Kneel on one of the front seats facing backwards and place your thumbs backwards and towards the shifter to your thums should now rest on the lip of the sliding try at the front of the rest. Then place your 3 middle fingers from each side into the cubby box area and extend them down to the bottom of the coin holder bit that sticks out from the main mould. Simply papply pressure and squeeze back and upwards and it will lift right out. You will then see screws inside at the bottom and some to the side - never removed more than this apart from phone clip and the panel ynder it which reveals the module - I think.
If your stuck this early on then take it nice and slow and check out this link. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/i...le-bmw-x5.html More here courtesey of bimmernav who many use as highly recommended http://www.bmwx5bluetooth.com/bmw_x5..._retrofit.html I did have a pdf install guide for bluetooth retro fit emailed from a bmew dealer but it seems to have been deleted from my deleted box and recycle bin - sorry. Thanks for all your help AW8, it is much appreciated. Perhaps you can also shed some light on the following; my car came with voice recognition and a facrory fitted phone system. The instructions I received with the bluetooth retrofit kit tell me to use the SES jumper plug supplied with the kit. However, this plug doen't seem to exist in my car! Are the European models different to the US ones in this respect or is it hidden away somewhere?

Glad earlier stuff was useful but I can't help you any further with any degree of condfidence on market wiring differences and/or voice recognition specs.
I have always maintained in life that it's best to give no advice than bad or uncertain advice - on any subject. Without knowing much about bluetooth installs, retrofits, exact specs of what you have etc it may be a good idea to contact the trading supplierof the kit you have sourced and ask them directly for advice. Failing that lots of helpful people on this great board and/or bmwland for in car communication/nav/phone info. If you get time when done then perhaps post up what problem you had and how you got around it as this whole forum thing works on sharing problems solutions and results. Good Luck
