Just got TCU recall letter from BMWNA

Hi everyone,

I just got a letter from BMWNA telling me the TCU in my car "might malfunction." The reference was to the Assist portion of the unit and not the Bluetooth. In any case, they want me to take it to the dealer for replacement.

Has anyone else gotten this letter?

Jose

Hey mfrymier,

Let us know how it goes. I'm interested to find out if they replace the part. And if they do, if they replace it with the same generation, newer, or even older!.

As timing goes, the TCU in my truck broke down a few weeks ago (before I got the letter). I took it to the dealer and they replaced it with an older part! Read this link I posted earlier about that.

Jose

I had this done... they just "update" your TCU with some programming. It doesn't change anything you will see.

Call the dealer before you make the trip. I got the letter last week while the X was in. I called and they said it did not apply to my specific VIN. I guess they do a mailing based on a block of VINs or production dates but there must be other criteria that narrows down the field.

Anyone else get this letter and take their cars in? I'm curious if anyone got their TCU replaced for a newer version.
