First, try turning off the transfer phone book option on the Pearl. If the phone starts working again, then you will know that the problem is related to something in the phonebook on the Pearl.

On mine (and others), my Pearl will not stay connected if I have any groups setup. This is unfortunate, but I suspect it is a defect in the Pearl that kills the connection to the BMW Bluetooth module by sending incorrect data.

The other thing that caused my Pearl problems is when I had non-numeric data in the phone number fields, such as alphabetic characters, "ENTER" characters, etc.

Mine did something weird as well. All was fine when I initially paired the phone with the car and everything worked fine with the phonebook. Out of no where the phonebook wouldn't transfer and when I hit the R/T button it would show "Contact Service Center" on the display. I brought it into the dealer and they disconnected the battery for 30 minutes and said that it should fix the problem, so such luck.

In the mean time I picked up the new Blackberry 8800 (Cingular) for my wife and her phonebook transfers fine.

I just deleted my groups and will give it a shot later. I really hope that works for mine as well although I never had the problem of it dropping the connection....

We'll see...
