For a 2003 X5, do I have to get the 2003 ULF?

I'm buying a CPO 2003 X5 which is wired for a phone. They're installing a BT setup for me. The parts guy at the dealer told me they're using the BT ULF which would have come with the X5 originally, part # 84 21 6 934 552. Do I have to use this part? Or can I get the latest generation ULF?

He also said if the X5 has BMW Assist the BT won't work. Is that true?

I don't want to pay them to install a BT setup that's already outdated and won't work with a newer phone.
