Whistle New Sprint Treo 650 update=Now compatible with BMW Visteon ULF

Check out PalmOne's latest update file for Sprint Treo 650 1.12

What is the Sprint PCS Treo 650 Updater 1.12?
Enables Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking
Updates VersaMail to version 3.1 to enhance stability and add improvements
Adds support for more Bluetooth carkits including Acura, BMW, Chrysler, Toyota Prius (see all compatible car kits)
Reduces post-dial delay before a call is connected
Send SMS messages from Missed Call Alert or Call Log
Now there's a new user guide that incorporates the changes after running the Treo 650 Updater: Treo 650 User Guide (PDF)
Users are reporting the following improvements:

Keyboard lights now brighten and dim along with the screen.
Digitizer much improved but still not 100%.
More available memory than with 1.08, so they may have improved it further
Dialing is in fact dramatically faster
Also included from the previous version (released March 2005):

Optimizes memory handling and frees up more memory with non-volatile file system improvements (learn more)
Overall voice quality improvements and enhanced call clarity
Internal setting modification to allow correct access to Sprint Affiliate roaming partner networks (previously released as Sprint PCS Treo 650 Roaming Patch)
TTY (also known as TDD or Text Telephone) optimizations and improvements
Optimizations for data calls
Bluetooth Carkit drivers are now included in ROM (previously released as Carkit Update for Treo 650)
Bluetooth Headset Volume Increased
The TreoCentral Staff recommends that anyone upgrading follows the alternate installation instructions.

Hi Kewl

I have been sitting on the fence waiting for a PDA that will work with the X5's, and until now, everyone has been saying the Treo 650 does not work. Are you saying that it works with your car?

Do you have phone book, caller ID etc?

What year is your X5?

The VZW Treo 650 works with my BT/Assist module made by Motorola. I actually have the BT/Assist module in the M3. It is a 2005 module.

If you have a late model 2004 X5 you can retrofit the 2005 BT/Assist module ending in part# -114. If you have a 2005 X5, then you should have BT/Assist module built-in which will work with the VZW Treo 650. The 2005 BT/Assist module is made by Motorola. I think Verizon is refering to the BMWs with the Visteon module (Bluetooth only module).

Yes, I have it working with the BT/Assist module. Speed Dial book transfers. Caller ID works. You can make calls from your steering wheel or telephone menu on your MID or NAV system or make calls from the Treo and the calls will go through the hands-free system in your car. When someone calls, the Caller ID shows up on the NAV screen and on your Treo.

I heard that you can't put "dial additional numbers" on the speed dial book otherwise, the Treo may go into a continuous reset loop. But otherwise, no other problem. The only data that doesn't get transferred to the car's screen is the the signal strength data.

Good luck.
