Sony P910a pairs flawlessly with '05 X5!
Looks like I'm headed to Cingular....
Had my BT/Assist module replaced today due to a malfunction on the BMW Assist side (red light remained lit on NAV). Module was replaced with the newer -114 module. I am trying a new Samsung i730 and it sucks!! Way to go Verizon. One of my friends then gets in the vehicle and we try his Sony P910a. Works flawlessly. Initiate calls from the car or the phone, transfer calls to/from the car, voice dial from either the car or the phone....all of it. I may give the Treo 650 a try before I leave Verizon, but for those interested in a PDA/Phone combo, the Sony 910 works great!!! |

Yes. I am in Atlanta, GA.
The p/n for the -114 module is 84-10-6-964-114. My BMW Assist was inop and I requested that they replace the unit with the newer part, rather than the older -993 unit, figuring they may still have the older units in parts inventory. My friend's 910 worked perfectly. No problem receiving or making calls, transfers to/from the phone and car worked perfectly. Only test I did not complete was to see if any of the phone book entries would transfer. On the Treo, only the "favorites" or speed dial entries transfer. This is what I would want actually on the 910, as I don't want 650 entries on the car phonebook. The Treo works fine in the car, too. But, not as flexible as the 910 when it comes to transferring calls back/forth. It is automatic on the Treo; whereas you have more options with the 910. |

Samsung i730 Didn't Work?
Nope.
Car and phone found each other and seemed to pair. Incoming call...phone rings through car speakers....could not answer....ended call with car still ringing....shut off car....still ringing....???? Even though no call was incoming, it continued to ring through the car speakers until I removed the key!!! Outgoing calls. I could place an outgoing call, but would lose the bluetooth connection after a couple of seconds. Very erratic and unstable. I went through the i600 smartphone debacle with Verizon when that phone first came out, so I've no confidence in a "quick" fix for any such problem. The only thing I know for sure is, no matter who is responsible, no one will take responsibility, which makes it a bit difficult to get anybody to fix it. Consequently, the i730 is back in inventory until some future time when some of these initial bugs are worked out. |
