2005 bmw x5

Hi
I need help on bluetooth.

I recently purchased 2005 x5 and I think it already does come with a sanp in adapter. Is this compatiable with any phones? or just certain types? Do I need to get another adapter depends on the phone type?

My current phone isn't bluetooth so I am shopping for a new phone.
Any recommendation? I been wanting to get a PDA (samsung) but I don't think it's compatible with bmw.

Please help

Thank you

bluetooth phone selection

my friend told me as long as the phone is bluetooth, it is compatible with bmw blue tooth. (some phones mgiht be too big fit in the snap in adapter but it should work as long as the phone is in the range in the car)

is this right?
I really want this to work out.

Please help.

Thanks.

ps. I am concerned that I been wanting to get a samsung pda phone (yes, it has bluetooth) and not sure if it works with bmw.

I'd be surprised if BMW is equipping the vehicles with the snap-in adaptor right at time of delivery. Take a picture of the area directly under the armrest and we will be able tell you what's there at this time.

As for phone compatibility, not every Bluetooth phone is compatible with the BMW system. The link provided by 5xn3rf3 above shows the list of ones that other BMW owners have reported their results with (good and bad).

What your buddy indicated about not needing the cradle is 100% correct. As long as your phone is in close proximity to the vehicle then it can pair and function with the vehicle's BT system. The only thing the cradle provides is a charging connection and a connection to an external antenna in order to boost signal strength.

Good Luck!!
