I heard about this module from my dealer in early June, in several forum posting's i asked if anyone had heard of this -056 and even asked one of the gentlemen at Crevier.
According to the my dealer, it is / was an $830 module. At the time no one knew the -114 had VR for the phone, maybe this has full VR for the vehicles with NAV. anyone with any info please post........... |

more details?
Has anyone been able to determine the true difference between -114 and -056? I'm embarking on this project for my 8/04 build 4.4 and want to get the most feature-rich part. From over $100 more for the -056, so I want to know what I get for it......
Thanks in advance. |

Here's the scoop on Bluetooth/Assist TCUs that come in 2005 MY E46 cars with assist. There have been a few running changes:
84 11 6 946 993 - No voice command, phased out in 2/05 84 10 6 964 114 - Built-in voice command for phone, SW version: 25 HW version: 42, phased in 3/05, phased out 5/05 84 10 6 965 056 - Built-in voice command for phone, SW version: 27 HW version: 42, phased in 6/05 I'm not sure what the difference is between the 114 and the 056, but clearly the software has been updated. Both have the same feature set, incl voice command. |

-114 vs. -056
I have an idea about this. I had the -114 installed as a replacement for a defective unit a couple of weeks ago. Now, every time I start the vehicle, the NAV display switches to the telephone menu. The LED turns red, indicating the the unit is looking to connect with the mothership, then it goes off once it verifies that a signal is available. But, the NAV display remains on the telephone menu, even though I currently do not have a bluetooth phone.
I think this is a bug, and perhaps the -056, with its newer software, corrects this problem....? Anyone else experience this same behavior? |

Yes, I notice the same thing....when either one of my phones connect via Bluetooth, the NAV screen automatically goes to the Telephone menu.
May be it is an intentional thing.... Quote:

But I don't have a Bluetooth Phone
Since I don't have a Bluetooth phone, I think the unit (and consequently the display) is switching to the telephone screen whenever the TCU is searching for a BMWAssist related signal.

Sorry to dredge up this super old thread, but my NAV was always defaulting to the telephone menu with my -114 TCU. (I retrofitted it to my 05/04 car).
What the NAV should do is always display the last screen you were using since you turned the car off. BMW acknowledge the problem in SI B 84 15 05. I took my car in and since the SIB only covers cars that had the -114 TCU fitted from factory I immediately got ... no sorry from my dealer. However they did open a PUMA case for me and BMW got back to them very quickly and said replace the TCU with the latest one as per the SIB .... 84 10 6 963 798 Now no more default Telephone menu when the car starts .... all fixed :-) |
