Question What do I need?

2003 X5 3.0

There is no phone cradle in the console, but the steering wheel has a phone button, r/t button and voice button. Additionally, there is a phone button near the radio.

So my question is what do I need for bluetooth compatible with existing buttons (what I assume to be prewiring). Is professional installation required/recommended?

Thank you in advance for assistance.

Get the www.bimmernav.com kit. It is 100% complete and you can easily install it yourself. Your car is pre-wired, but you need a few more key parts:
  • Eject box with pairing button
  • Bluetooth ULF module
  • Bluetooth antenna
  • Bluetooth antenna cable
  • Hands-free microphone

Yup, I do-- I have one in my car. This kit/company is very popular in this BT forum as well as on the Bimmernav Bluetooth forum. Martin (the guy behind Bimmernav) is one of the pioneers behind the Bluetooth retrofit projects for our cars.
